Don't confuse the online world with the real world.
To farm our attention better, and the competition is fierce.
We use on a regular basis System 1 rather than System 2 thinking.
System 1 is intuition, & well trained,
can be better than System 2.
In general, however System 1 thinking is a first average guess and seldom right.
What follows is that the architect of the red pill,
and there is always an architect.
Has to distort reality,
to be engaging enough in order to compete with the finetuned propaganda mainstream.
Which after all,
targets a large part of the population in a successful manner.
What we end up is,
narrative warfare,
where we have two or more competing baseline explanations of what is going on.
Not exactly one truth, and one falsehood,
the world is more nuanced than that.
In short, we end up with a lot of chaotic display of information.
This is far further implications than one thinks.
The stories, a culture, nation, civilization is telling itself matter to an extreme degree.
An informative book which nails down this point well is:
"Narrative Economics: How Stories Go Viral and Drive Major Economic Events"
If you want to improve your narrative skills yourself, rather than reading up via Robert J. Shiller how important such stories are.
Start here with this book:
"Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, and Change Your Life Through the Power of Storytelling"
Timeless, good advice.
Are you documenting and noting down,
the content and stories you consume.
Or are you passive, just observing, not discerning of what you let into your mind.
Let me know in the comments.
Ps: Maturity is learning that information diet, is just as important as healthy balanced diet.
Edit: Check out this article, for a real-world example how the redpill isn't just so and so applicable to the real word.
